130304 miss A’s Fei Wows Judges, Escapes Elimination Round on “Master Chef Korea Celebrity”

The celebrity edition of O’live’s Master Chef Korea premiered on February 22, and let’s just say things are already heating up in the kitchen.

From veteran actor Lee Gye In, voice actor Seo Hye Jeong and comedienne Shin Bong Sun to young idols, miss A’s Fei, Super Junior-M’s Henry and Dal Shabet’s Jiyul, stars from all corners of the entertainment world were represented in the kitchen. However, miss A’s Fei proved seniority means nothing in a cook-off, winning the mystery box mission and escaping the elimination round with her Chinese-style cucumber soup.

These celebrity contestants may be used to getting the star treatment everywhere else, but in the Master Chef kitchen, the judges don’t mess around, as the celebs had barely made themselves comfortable when they were put to work on their first mystery box mission.

In the mystery box mission round, the contestants must create a dish incorporating the mystery box ingredient, but the celebs were in for a real surprise when they lifted the lid to find nothing inside the box.

Judge Kang Leo says, “Express yourself through a dish.”

Translation:Whip up whatever you want.

Some may consider this the most difficult mission of all, to create a dish with little to no guidance, and while the other contestants put up a good fight, it was miss A’s Fei who came out on top.

With one hour on the clock and after burning her dish the first time around, Fei managed to cook up Chinese-style ‘3:6:9 ribs’ (the numbers refer to the ratio of sugar, soy sauce and water used in the marinade) and cucumber soup in the last 15 minutes.

But Kim So Hee’s expression at the judging table, upon tasting the ribs, was well worth the time crunch-induced stress, as the judge licked her bone clean, while judge Kang Leo was most impressed by the soup.

“This cucumber soup is beyond my imagination, honestly,” says Kang Leo. “There are dishes that incorporate ripe cucumbers in Korea, but there aren’t soups. This cucumber soup is fresh and delicious.”

“I wanted to cry,” says Fei. “Because it was something I was never able to show. I wanted my cooking to be recognized as well.”

With the judges compliments, miss A’s Fei was named the winner of the mystery box round and awarded a save from the elimination round.

Fei was also given the power to assign the noodle ingredient to be used in the elimination round to the contestants, and it was Dal Shabet′s Jiyul and Seo Hye Jeong, who were ultimately sent home.
